E:
My fur baby and I have been tackling Bradenton – 1 dog-friendly adventure at a time. I’m not sure who gets more tired. Him or me? Haha
In recent days, the three of us have become quite the explorers, and we have decided to share three of our favorite places we’ve found!
Pine Avenue on Anna Maria
E:
Recently, on a Saturday morning, Duncan and I met up with Megan on Pine Avenue (on the north end of Anna Maria Island) to enjoy a little walking, a little shopping and a whole lot of fun!
There was a steady buzz of people leisurely enjoying the beautiful day providing the perfect environment for a morning walk.
At the east end of Pine Avenue., the old Anna Maria Island City Pier used to sit prior to hurricane Irma in 2017. They are currently rebuilding the pier so that is closed off, but there is still a covered area with a few benches and picnic tables nearby ready to offer relief from the Florida heat! Your pup will thank you!
M:
Anna Maria is such a fun place to walk your dog (or do almost anything)! Depending on the season, the weather varies from hot to only slightly chilly. However, there is a 92% chance it will be sunny.
The entire island is an oasis full of hidden treasures waiting to be found. Early in the morning, Pine Avenue is one of my favorite places to walk my pup.
If you arrive before the shops open (typically at 10am), parking is easily available and the weather is mild. As you stroll down the beach sand path, both you and your pup’s little noses will be overwhelmed by the beautiful scent of the salty ocean air (or the mouth watering scent coming from the wildly popular AMI Donut Experiment).
If you’re lucky, you’ll cross paths with a handful of other pups – a combination of island locals and overjoyed vacationers. If your pup starts talking to a vacationer, he will thank you for living in Florida. Watch out – if your pup exchanges tail wags with a local, he may spend the rest of the week trying to convince you to trade in your Bradenton residence for an island bungalow.
Bradenton Riverwalk
M:
In Downtown Bradenton, Riverwalk is becoming a hub in the community. Kids laugh joyously from the playground as teens spend their afternoons at the skate park.
The sidewalk spans 1.5 miles and has become a frequent stop for runners and walkers. I’ve even witnessed a boot camp fitness group sweating together and a modern dance group rehearsing.
E:
The Riverwalk is one of my favorite and most frequent places to walk my fur-baby. The sidewalk beside the water is a gorgeous and relaxing place to walk.
There is easy and free parking, a skate park, a children’s playground, two elliptical machines and plenty of benches and seating for a rest along the way.
You and your pup are sure to love your walk or jog along this path! See ya out there!
Robinson’s Preserve
E:
Robinson’s Preserve is comprised of 679 acres of gorgeous walking trails, small lakes and grassland. These trails are perfect for your afternoon stroll, or evening run with the pup.
The entrances are equipped with drinking fountains for both you and your dog as well as restrooms and parking lots. It is completely free to park and use the paths.
For more information and hours based on season, please visit their site HERE.
M:
Robinson’s Preserve is one of the most popular spots in West Bradenton to walk, jog, bike, nature-watch, and take photos.
While there are multiple paths that offer a variety of distances to meet your physical needs, my favorite is the path that heads north.
If you have a favorite place to walk your pup, let us know here! We would love to venture out and visit more places with our fur-babies!
