This week, we’re sharing some of our favorite places to grab one of our favorite treats … you guessed it … donuts! We believe there’s nothing as close to heaven as a fresh, warm donut. Paired with a good quality coffee, donuts are a top contender for best treat!
The Farm House:
M:
The Farm House is one of my favorite places to grab a warm donut. Located Downtown on 9th Street E and Manatee Avenue, it is dangerously close to my day job’s office. I don’t think I can count on my fingers the number of times I’ve made a quick trip with my coworkers (oops)! They’re open Monday – Saturday from 7am – 5pm and on Sunday from 8am – 2pm.
The donuts are perfectly crispy and small enough to give you an excuse to pick a few different flavors. My personal favorites are the Strawberry Patch, the Cow Pattie, and the Apple Pie. They have recently started selling gourmet donuts in different flavors advertised on their Facebook Page.
E:
Donuts are absolutely one of my favorite foods of all times. When the need to be gluten free bombarded my life several years ago, this was one food I figured I would have to mourn the loss of.
However, to my surprise, many local businesses have begun to adapt to the gluten free needs of donut lovers like me (and maybe you??) and that includes The Farm House! Next time you’re driving through downtown Bradenton, don’t be afraid to stop in!
In addition to yummy donuts, they also sell coffee and farmhouse themed home decor. In fact, their coffee is so good that it made our “Best Places to Grab Coffee in Downtown Bradenton” post. If you haven’t had a chance yet, be sure to check it out here.
Shipley’s Donuts:
M:
Shipley’s Donuts are my Sunday craving! I drive past the beautiful SR70 location weekly and dream of the light & airy glazed donuts. They are also famous for their Kolaches – European pastries filled with different combinations of meats and cheeses.
Carlos, the owner, does a fantastic job offering excellent customer service & great values to his customers. With a convenient drive through, Shipley’s is available on the go for those busy mornings. They also have good indoor seating if you can’t wait a moment longer to enjoy your the donut or kolache you’ve been craving. Shipley’s makes it too easy to indulge in a ‘treat yourself’ moment.
E:
When Megan and I stopped in for a treat at Shipley’s, we were greeted by Carlos- the owner and donut extraordinaire!
The atmosphere reminded me of the donut shops my parents took us to nearly every Saturday morning as a kid growing up in California.
The shelves were lined with freshly made goodies and the tables were filled with happy customers enjoying a mid-morning snack.
Shipley’s is open from 5am – 8pm every day so you have a pretty good chance of getting your cravings satisfied regardless of when they strike!
The Donut Experiment at Anna Maria Island:
M:
The iconic Donut Experiment on Anna Maria Island is a “must” for both locals and vacationers alike. The customizable donuts are ordered on a paper form and made to order so everyone can enjoy their favorite icing and topping combination. My personal favorites are the Maple Bacon and Key Lime.
I love The Donut Experiment for its ambiance. You’re out on the island & whether you sit inside or out, you feel like you are in a tropical paradise. There’s nothing like it.
Warning: During the high volume Snow Bird and Spring Break months, The Donut Experiment is packed in the mornings. You may have to wait in line a little longer than usual to get your donut fix.
E:
What do they say? Location. Location. Location. Oh wait, that’s house hunting not donut eating- but seriously. The Donut Experiment definitely wins in location points being that it is just a couple minutes walk from either the Gulf or the Bay on Anna Maria Island.
In other words- right smack dab in the heart of paradise!
The Donut Experiement is perfect for a tasty breakfast before your beach day begins or a quick break from the sun. In my opinion- there’s never a bad time for a donut!
If donuts aren’t your thing or you are the only gluten free one in the bunch, The Donut Experiment is also an excellent choice for a cup of coffee
Thanks for hanging out with us while we visited these Bradenton Donut Shops!
We’re planning on having another donut day to find some great treats for our Sarasota friends.
Where are your favorite donut stops? We’d love to taste all of your favorites!
