The Waffle Press
M:
Located on Pine Avenue on Anna Maria Island, The Waffle Press is a cute shop selling Belgian-style waffles and coffee.
Though one waffle was rich and filling enough, I sat down for two – an Independent (custom) waffle with strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream and the Italian with cannoli cream, chocolate sauce, and chocolate chips.
To learn more about the business, we asked Kellie, the owner, a few questions about her shop.
Q: What is the inspiration behind The Waffle Press?
“Travel and Food Trucks were the inspiration behind The Waffle Press. We loved visiting cities in America and enjoying the local food, especially at small business food stands and trucks. We enjoyed getting to know the flavor of the cities through the culinary arts of creative people who took pride in their scratch – made, handcrafted foods—-We wanted to do that in our home town, plus we love coffee and waffles!”
Q: How did location play in to account as you decided to start a Waffle shop?
“We love Bradenton and Anna Maria Island and grew up here. We have enjoyed watching our area change and grow, and love enjoying the yummy food and beautiful shops on Pine Avenue, and wanted to be a part of it! We were thrilled to become a part of the Pineapple Junktion Co-Op in the Anna Maria Island Green Village.”
Q: What is your favorite waffle order?
“Our Lead Barista, Hunter, and my husband, David, both have chosen the Canadian as their favorite waffle, and I have to agree! The candied bacon and maple butter is amazing! We are working on lots of new creative combinations and look forward to adding waffle ice cream sandwiches and savory breakfast and lunch waffles in the future, so stay tuned!”
Q: What makes The Waffle Press unique?
“The Waffle Press is unique because of the Belgian Liege waffles—a dough based waffle with sugar pearls for crunch, not your average waffle—Scratch-made and served in a paper boat with handcrafted gourmet toppings. We also serve locally roasted Cosmos Coffee, espresso, lattes, and cold brews—best cup on the island!”
Q: What is your favorite part living in the 941?
“The best part of living in 941 is the people. Bradenton truly is one of the friendliest cities and Anna Maria is paradise— it makes sense that the people here smile a lot!”
E:
The Waffle Press is an adorable and one-of-a-kind addition to Pine Avenue! Open from 7am to 5pm seven days a week, you can stop in before work for a cup of fresh cold brew coffee and a waffle of your choice or for an afternoon snack after a day in the sun!
The menu is sure to offer something you’ll love as they have pre-designed waffle combinations as well as one that you can customize with up to 3 toppings!
The Camper (Marshmallow, Chocolate Sauce and Graham Cracker Crumbles) speaks my language; but still, you can’t go wrong with a more traditional option like the Purist (Powdered Sugar and Cinnamon Sugar).
Be sure to check out their Facebook page HERE for more menu items, updates and mouth-watering pictures of yummy waffles!
